Too Close for Comfort

The alleged yeti footprint image shown on the far left is of the type of prints found in snow by Eric Shipton and Michael Ward in the Himalayas in 1951. Much controversy resulted on the creature that made the prints.

Some authorities contended that the prints were probably the melted out track of some known creature, or the result of wind erosion on known animal prints. The image on the immediate left is of prints found by Edward W. Cronin Jr., and Dr. Howard Emery in the same mountains in 1972, again in snow. This team found the prints directly outside their camp shortly before dawn. They were photographed before sunrise, so were definitely not the result of melting. Furthermore, they observed that their own footprints in the area made the previous day were not altered, so there had not been any wind to alter prints.
