Songs of the Pacific Northwest

Songs of the Pacific NorthwestIn the Pacific Northwest from the days of the fur trade to the present, people have used songs to express and share their reactions to events. That the story told through song is so full and varied indicates a rich heritage in a land not generally recognized as having an English song tradition.

Broadly speaking the songs can be called "folk songs," a name which may be given to newer and authored songs if the writer's primary intent is social and communicative rather than commercial. Included are reworked or "parodied" songs and topical songs using traditional or popular tunes.

The Track Record - A Bigfoot Encyclopedia

The Track Record - A Bigfoot EncyclopediaThe Track Record was written by Ray Crowe of Hillsboro, OR. Ray collected sighting reports and fascinating articles from throughout the world via his web of contacts. The newsletters totaled 174 and over 3000 pages and were much too bulky to print and distribute.

North America Bigfoot Search (NABS) purchased the rights to Mr. Crowe's research in 2007 and immediately took on the task of developing an index for the entire Track Record collection.

The Great Bear Rainforest - Canada's Forgotten Coast

The Great Bear RainforestOn Canada's west coast between the north end of Vancouver Island and the Alaska border, a wilderness region larger than Belgium winds through  four hundred kilometres of forested islands and inlets. It is the largest tract of intact temperate rainforest left on earth.

Now known as The Great Bear Rainforest, this vast wilderness is laced with pristine river systems whose abundant runs of Pacific salmon support dense concentrations of rainforest wildlife, including Canada's largest grizzly bears and the rare all-white spirit bear.

Recently, the threat of devastation by clearcut logging has brought this last great stand of endangered rainforest to international notice.

Spirit Quest - The initiation of an Indian boy

Spirit QuestInto the household of the siem, headman, of one of the villages was born a baby boy. He joined other sons and daughters of Sax ump ki, and his several wives. That boy, and his early life, is the subject of this book. He became the man we know as Cha it zit, chief of the Lummi people during the time of their first contact with white settlers.

Spirit Quest is not historical, in the white society's sense of the word, but it is in a way that The People would view it. There are no dates which are not important when one is considering concepts. The details are taken from stories told and re-told from one generation to the next.
