Border Heritage - Sample Chapter
The Newcombe barn, situated off 20th Avenue and 184th Street, is one of the few barns from the early days that still serves its intended purpose. It was built by Ira Newcombe in 1930. The lumber came from the farm of son-in-law George Kitzel on North Bluff Road. The pole rafters were bought from the neighbor for eight cents per tree and the shakes were split from old cedar on the farm.
