Brown Eared Pheasant - SD - Full Synopsis
We live in a changing world where habitats are being destroyed at an alarming rate. Although there is now a great deal of interest in conservation, the need for new resources, particularly for the rapidly increasing human populations, make it inevitable that further areas of bird habitat will be lost. Most threatened of the major habitats are the forests. Sadly, pheasants, an important group of forest birds are among the most specialized. They are poorly equipped to cope with living in impoverished habitats. The only ever exist in comparatively small numbers since their habitats are restricted in size. Hence such birds are vulnerable to minor, local changes. Doubtless such species will be among those that continue to be lost in greatest numbers in the near future. Unless we can call a halt, man is certain to destroy even the most extensive tracts in time.
China is an immense country. It has matchless mountain ranges and vast plains, Over half of the world's pheasant species can be found here. Of these species, the Brown Eared Pheasant is a famous one, not only because it is one of the Chinese splendid endemic species but also it has long been considered a symbol of bravery in our country. Unfortunately, its habitat is seriously under the threat of agricultural change and biologists need to monitor population density and change.
The authors of the book have made a great effort to supply what is wanted in this present list. For many years they have conducted the Brown Eared Pheasant researches both in the laboratory and in the field and obtained many vital data used for this book, The compilation is considered a reliable scientific reference for the species.
Until now relatively little research literature relating to Chinese ornithology has been available in any western language. This book will thus fill many important gaps in our knowledge of the Brown Eared Pheasant and help us to enjoy the challenge of conservation of the fascinating birds.
