| Mining is an industry that deals with a finite resource. The life of a mine is determined by the size and the nature of the orebody and the ability of men and women to extract the minerals profitably. The Craigmont Story is the story of the life of a mid-twentieth century British Columbia copper mine. This is a story of the formation of the orebody beneath the earth's surface, how it was discovered, how it was mined and how the land is being returned to cattle range. Most importantly, this is the story of the people of Merritt, the Nicola Valley and British Columbia who were part of Craigmont from its first hesitant beginnings until there was no longer any ore left to mine. |
