This is another type of structure used by the Navy, the Jamesway hut that was similar to the Quonset in appearance, but was more of a temporary structure than the Quonsets. J.C. Reed PP301 USGS908 Photo by USN.


This large piece of equipment is called tongs in oil field talk. It is used to tighten the drill pipe seen in the circular area underneath the hands of the man leaning over. This is physically strenuous work and dangerous until one learns the ropes.
