New England is a fascinating place for mineral collectors. Literally thousands of acres contain collectable material of one type or another. To cover all the areas, and all the rock and minerals types found in each, would take many huge volumes.
This book shows some of the rocks and minerals of the northeast. The majority of specimens pictured here have been collected by the author over the past twenty-two years. Some areas, such as road cuts, are gone, but most areas still contain excellent material, just sitting there waiting to be found. However, the specimens are not on top of the ground. Today it requires a lot of digging and hard work to extract them from their hiding places. |
