Author Biography: Roy Dennis, MBE has been a professional ornithologist since 1958 and is a Wildlife and Environmental Consultant. In 1991 he was awarded Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland in recognition of significant contribution to the conservation of wildlife and wild places in Scotland. In 1993 he was awarded the Silver Medal of Honour from Naturschutzbund Deutschland for services to the conservation and protection of raptors. In 2004 he received the Golden Eagle Award; in 2005 he became an Honorary Member of the Scottish Ornithologists Club and from 1997-2007 he was a Director of Trees for Life, becoming Patron in 2007.
As Roy says, I have always had a particular interest in encouraging a concern for nature and helping the public understand the need for sustainable use of natural resources and for the integration of agriculture, forestry and nature conservation. To this end, I have frequently lectured at both popular and scientific meetings and conferences, appeared regularly on television and radio and written scientific papers, popular articles and books. |
