Logging - Author Info

Author Biography:

Ed Gould's interest in logging dates back to his youth when his father worked as a logger and talked of the woods. Educated at White Rock and the University of British Columbia, Gould is author of two earlier books on British Columbia; one, Bridging the Gulf is being reissued by Hancock House this year. Gould has written hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles, as well as writing 26 scripts for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. His career has included a stint with radio in Vancouver, Fort St. John and Peace River, a thrice-weekly column for The Victorian when he was assistant editor, plus reporting for the Victoria Times and Canadian Press. His journalism has netted him top Canadian awards.

Even with this busy background, Ed likes to talk about taking time out to work for a living in the pulp mill at Ocean Falls, the smelter at Kitimat, and a trucking business in Vancouver. Thus, he is certainly able to sympathize with the role loggers played in this province's old forests.
